Paraguay River Cruise 7 days/6 nights

Day 1 Corumbá – Baia do Tuiuiú – Porto São Pedro
In the morning a short visit to the city of Corumbá, also known as the ´white city´ because of the rich calcium grounds. The municipal Corumbá comprises 60% of the total Pantanal area in Mato Grosso do Sul and 37% of the total Pantanal area. For this reason the city of Corumbá is the gateway to the Pantanal area and one of the main cities along the Paraguay river.
Around 10:00 hrs, you will board the regional hotel boat; Flôr de Camalote (“Flower of the Camalote”). We head upstream and till we reach baia do Tuiuiú after a few hours. Baia do Tuiuiú (“Jaribu bay”) is known for its rich fish waters and a paradise for birds, which feed on the fish in the dry season. We leave the boat in smaller motorized boats to get to know this wonderful region with a great opportunity to take some pictures. Dinner will be served on board. Rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight onboard. The boat will navigate through the night to Porto São Pedro. (L,D)

Day 2 Porto São Pedro
Around 07:00 hrs we will arrive in Porto São Pedro. After breakfast we will set foot on shore to spend the whole day in the region of Porto São Pedro. We will have a nature trek through the surrounding nature. We will go sport fishing, a unique experience of fishing a tucunare (peacock-bass). We will navigated the principal tributary river of Mata Cachorro, which was formed by an ecological disaster at the Taquari river forming immense rivers with crystal clear waters, with a excellent view of the different fish species and sub aquatic flora and fauna. Finally we will have a horse back ride through the surrounding nature, an excellent way to get to places, which normally can’t be reached by other means of transport. Overnight onboard. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Reserve Acurizal
The Foundation Ecotropica & WWF
After breakfast we will spend the whole day discovering the reserve Acurizal, by horse and by foot. The Acurizal Private Reserve together with the neighboring Penha reserve and Dorochê reserve form a complex of protected reserves, with a total area of around 55.000ha. The area is located in western central Brazil, at the southwestern portion of Mato Grosso do Sul and Mato Grosso States, at the international border with Bolivia and Paraguay. It represents 1.3% of Brazil’s Pantanal. Despite its relatively small size the area presents a unique combination of natural ecosystems with river corridors, gallery forests, perennial wetlands and lakes, seasonally inundated grasslands and terrestrial forests. For the whole Pantanal region 250 species of aquatic plants have been reported, from which 100 of them (40%) are found in this area. The abundance and diversity of wildlife is the most spectacular feature of the area, which preserves 64 mammals (81% of the total Pantanal mammal species), 170 birds (33%), and 22 reptiles (44%). Overnight onboard. (B,L,D)
