Hidden Pantanal 7 days/6 nights

Day 1 Corumbá – Pousada Bela Vista (36 km)
Arrival at the airport of Corumbá, where you will be welcomed by your English speaking guide. Transfer to Pousada Bela Vista. Arrival and check-in. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. At night you will head out in 4-wheel drive vehicle for a night safari on the Estrada Parque with a chance to see nocturnal animals. There will be a stop at one of the many wooden bridges to observe caymans. Dinner and overnight at Pousada Bela Vista. (D)

Day 2 Pousada Bela Vista
After breakfast a horse back riding trip exploring the Pantanal landscape, as well gain an intimate knowledge of its fauna and flora. You will discover a lagoon, enter a palm forest, climb a hill, from where you will have a great on the pousada and its surroundings, and enter the marshes. Back to the pousada for lunch. In the afternoon a kayak tour along the river "corixo do papagaio". The ideal time is late afternoon, when the serenity of the water and the coziness of the surrounding hills transmit indescribable and unique sensations. You will have the chance to see different mokey species, giant otters and a huge number of different birds. Dinner and overnight at Pousada Bela Vista. (B,L,D)

Day 3 Pousada Bela Vista – Porto São Pedro
After breakfast transfer to Corumbá. On arrival you will board a motor boat. We head upstream to Porto São Pedro. A boat ride of approximately 4 hours. Here lunch will be served in the open air. After lunch we will navigated the principal tributary river Mata Cachorro, which was formed by an ecological disaster at the Taquari river forming immense rivers with crystal clear waters, with a excellent view of the different fish species and sub aquatic flora and fauna. There will be enough time to take a refreshing bath and to snorkel. End of the afternoon back to Porto São Pedro where dinner will be served. We will stay the night in fully protected and screened hammock area. Overnight in Porto São Pedro in hammocks. (B,L,D)

Day 4 Porto São Pedro
After breakfast we will enter the tributary river Piuva, also with crystal clear waters. Here you will have the unique experience of fishing a tucunare (peacock-bass). Besides you will have the time to go for a swim and to snorkel. Lunch at Porto São Pedro. In the afternoon we will have a nature trek through the surrounding nature, and discover the exuberant local flora en fauna. After dinner we go out on a night safari on the Paraguay river to seek for nocturnal wildlife. Overnight in Porto São Pedro in hammocks. (B,L,D)

Day 5 Porto São Pedro – Pousada Bela Vista
After breakfast back to Corumbá by boat. After arrival we will have a short city tour through Corumbá also known as the ´white city´ because of the rich calcium grounds. The municipal Corumbá comprises 60% of the total Pantanal area in Mato Grosso do Sul and 37% of the total Pantanal area. For this reason the city of Corumbá is the gateway to the Pantanal area and one of the main cities along the Paraguay river. Lunch will be taken in a local fish restaurant. After lunch transfer back to Pousada Bela Vista. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Pousada Bela Vista. (B,L,D)

Day 6 Pousada Bela Vista
After breakfast we will enjoy a nature safari when we head for Fazenda Arara Azul. This tours in 4-wheel drive vehicle go to the "Curva do Leque" and usually provide an amazing opportunity to spot wildlife. You can easily see gigantic caiman gatherings and big groups of capybaras with their young. There is chance to see ocelots, giant otters, tayras, anacondas and boas, lizards, giant anteater and agoutis, the endangered marsh deer can also be frequently spotted. It is needless to say that you will have a great opportunity to spot some of the 650 bird species that occur in Pantanal. After arrival a horse back ride in the surrounding of the Fazenda Arara Azul. You will see that this region is totally different from the Paraguay Pantanal lowlands at Pousada Bela Vista. The fazenda lies in a Intermediary area between the Pantanal of Abobral and Nhecolândia, between two lagoons in perfect harmony with nature. The Pousada Arara Azul, has a partnership with WWF (Word Wide Fund for Nature) It is the reference farm of the researcher & biologist Ms. Neiva Guedes., where she observes the region’s nests of Blue Macaws. Lunch at the fazenda. In the end of the afternoon transfer back to Pousada Bela Vista. Underway we will have chance to see various mammal and bird species. Dinner and overnight at Pousada Bela Vista. Day 7 Pousada Bela Vista - Corumbá
After an early breakfast a nature hike on trails opened in areas selected for their beauty. Visitors may choose the level of difficulty they want to walk. For example one of the walks circles around the fazenda and takes approximately two hours. Other walks are shorter and go to special places, such as a acurizal forest or to the cactus of mandacaru. The walks are an excellent opportunity to see animals in particular mammals and birds. After lunch transfer back to the airport of Corumbá in time for your domestic flight. (B,L)

What to bring:
T-shirts, long sleeved shirt, sneakers or hiking boots, jeans or track suit, hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, binoculars, flashlight, camera and film. Sweatshirt or sweater recommended from June to September.
